Greetings from NYCGMC Artistic Director Dr. Charles Beale

We're back!!!!

Recently returned from triumphant performances at the international GALA festival of GLBT choirs in Miami, the New York City Gay Men's Chorus (NYCGMC) is looking forward to its 29th season with renewed confidence and pride. Audiences have been impressed with our new sound, our inventive programming and above all, our fresh focus and refreshed energy under the baton of Dr. Charles Beale (we call him Charlie!). So if you've not seen us in a while, you'll be in for a big surprise.

At its fullest, NYCGMC totals a massive 250 voices, that meld into one unparalleled powerhouse of sound. Within it’s ranks, the chorus holds two top-quality tributary groups: the Consort of Voices, specializing in early music and classical singing, and Broadway Voices, performing a musical theatre and cabaret repertoire. In addition, our Outreach group constantly gives back to the community, singing to underprivileged audiences at organizations like Village Care and Hudson Guild.

In 2007, NYCGMC performed at numerous venues in and around New York City, campaigning for change in the city, the region, across the nation and around the world. The chorus not only boasts a diverse and relevant songbook, but also has created a safe space for literally thousands of gay men throughout its history. Whether you are an audience member or a potential singer, we want to connect with you and involve you in our journey.

After a year of innovative performances at Carnegie Hall, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYCGMC returns to Carnegie Hall once again on Tuesday December 9th 2008. This year, we’ll gather with our friends and family to celebrate the holiday season, while continuing our steadfast efforts to fight homophobia through song. As ever, our Holiday Spectacular will include an entertaining and varied mix of songs, celebrities, and surprises! There will be laughter, tears and inspiring messages of hope.

With gas prices through the roof, ditch the car and spend an evening on Santa's Carnegie Hall Sleigh with a red-nosed reindeer and over 200 gay men of all shapes and sizes - you are promised the warmest of welcomes!

"a wonderful evening of amazing music, incredible camaraderie and oh-h-h can those men sing!!!"
(Baraka Sele, New Jersey Performing Arts Center)
